Unilam® GL17 Slash Pine (F22)

Unilam ® GL17 SLASH PINE (Pinus elliotti, P. caribea) glulam beams are made from grown Slash Pine plantations mainly in south-east Queensland and to a lesser extent, northern NSW and New Zealand.

Unilam ® GL17 SLASH PINE beams are more cost effective when compared to imported rainforest timbers and are equal in strength, hardness and appearance. The heartwood is durable enough to use in sheltered exposed applications, builders love the practicality of the Unilam ® GL17 SLASH PINE glulam beams as they are much easier to install then steel and are perfect in the application of lintels over window and door openings, for garage beams, or as roof beams where spans over large spaces have been specified.

Unilam ® GL17 SLASH PINE glulam beams have a proven fire resistance. The char forming on the outside perimeter of members prevents continuous combustion maintaining maximum strength for the longest periods.

Unilam ® GL17 SLASH PINE glulam beams have a natural resilience, permitting it to absorb wind shock and impacts that could otherwise cause failure in other structural materials. They also offer high resistance to corrosive effects reducing the cost and complexity of building maintenance. (should I put this on all our beams?)
